Saint Emilion Grand Cru at this price is hard to come by, especially in recent vintages. Bordeaux celebrated another incredible one in 2019, and while a lot is being made of what Neal Martin calls the "Omne Trium Perfectum," the vintages 2018-2020 are going to be debated and compared for decades to come. Wines like Chateau du Cauze are some of the ripest ever, loaded with fruit and texture, while displaying a remarkable freshness and purity. That also extends drinking windows to 2026, but with the price of the Euro at its lowest levels in quite some time, we can't resist. Sourced from the eastern side of Saint Emilion's limestone plateau, blending Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon to perfection, aged 18 months in French oak. It's another modern, gracious, fruit-driven Bordeaux from Bruno Laporte!
"This estate set east of the town of Saint-Emilion has produced a well-structured wine. Dusty tannins float easily in juicy black-plum flavors, giving a beautifully balanced wine with plenty of further potential. The wine has weight and concentration. It will be ready from 2026."
